Este verano marcó el regreso al Inter de Milán, incluso prestado por el Chelsea de Londres, del delantero belga Romelu Lukaku. El jugador, por el que el Chelsea pagó 97,5 millones de libras al club milanés el año pasado, está lejos de la forma que mostró durante dos temporadas en el Inter, cuando marcó 64 goles en todas las competiciones. Además, a los tres partidos de la temporada, cuando marcó un gol en la primera jornada en la portería del humilde Lecce, ¡Lukaku se lesionó! El Inter no tenía dinero para fichajes espectaculares, y se conformó con contratar al defensa de 34 años Francesco Acerbi, procedente del Lazio (prestado), y al «agente libre» Henrikh Mkhitaryan, del AS Roma.

El AS Roma logró un fichaje de alto nivel, Paulo Dybala, procedente de la Juventus, por el que la Ciudad Eterna no pagó nada, ya que el argentino de 28 años terminaba su contrato con el club turinés.
