In France, the champion was known before the competition started: PSG.
From 2nd to 9th place, however, it’s a big battle. Stretched out over a nine-point gap are: Nice, Monaco, Brest, Lille, Lens, Rennes, Marseille and Reims. That’s the essence of the French championship summed up in this cluster. Tight matches in which any one of them can be beating anyone else (and often ending in a draw, don’t believe us – check!).
The fight to avoid relegation is very close too: Clermont, Metz, Lorient, Montpellier and Toulouse are the main candidates.
Only four teams seem totally carefree: Lyon (having miraculously rallied after a catastrophic start of the season), Nantes, Le Havre and Strasbourg.
In Ligue 1, attention to detail is what makes the difference between a successful bet and a failed one. It’s not enough to mirror the teams. It’s not enough to study the standings in depth. It’s not even enough to check the head-to-head results of recent meetings. You have to pay attention to the trend, to sense who’s traversing a good form. Also you have to be familiar with rivalries and team’s history.
From match to match, phase to phase
In Ligue 1 you must bear in mind the main ingredient of the competition – it’s balanced overall but the matches get slightly out of balance because there are a lot of young footballers who make mistakes sometimes so hard to believe.
A red card destabilises any match quicker than anything else. Forwards can score at any time, but defenders can also blunder at any time.
Ligue 1 must be watched live, stage by stage, match by match, phase by phase.
The categorical imperative: attention!
In all this unpredictability, PSG-related wins are a real boon for punters. Here’s one constant. And, as we know, a constant, a foothold is sometimes enough to turn the universe upside down. In our case, to get the winning ticket.
Whoever approaches the French league with consistency, patience and lucidity has every chance of winning in the end. But in Ligue 1 you can’t bet by ear or by heart. Matches have to be seen and even being seen is not enough. They have to be watched with maximum attention in real time!
