Paris Saint-Germain, the champions of the last season, are looking for another title. Even if they don’t impress with their play, Christophe Galtier’s squad seems to have no problems this season either. This is probably why PSG did not make any acquisitions this winter. Furthermore, PSG have loaned out two players: Pablo Sarabia sold to Wolverhampton for €5 million and Keylor Navas to Nottingham Forest, on loan.

With Igor Tudor on the bench, Marseille is aming to obtain a place that will ensure them access to the next edition of the Uefa Champions League. As one of the two places that puts a French team directly in the groups is “taken” by PSG, Marseille’s objective is not an easy one. Three players arrived this winter: Malinovskyi (Atalanta – loan), Azzedine Ounahi (Angers – €8 million) and Vitinha (Braga – €32 million). Three others have left Igor Tudor’s ship: Gerson (Flamengo – €15 million), Bamba Dieng (Lorient – €8 million), Pape Gueye (Sevilla – loan).

Lens made two minor acquisitions: Thomasson (Strasbourg – €3.9 million) and Angelo Fulgini (Mainz – loan).

Monaco, Rennes, Lille, another segment of top teams fighting for access to the Champions League, have not impressed in terms of acquisitions this winter.

Auxerre, who currently struggle in the relegation zone, have loaned in several players, including Romanian international Ionuț Radu from Inter Milano.

Jean-Victor Makengo, who left Nice for Udinese in 2020 for €3.5 million, has been repatriated by Lorient, who paid €10 million for the 24-year-old midfielder. Makengo has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with ‘’Les Merlu’’.

Surprisingly in the middle of the Ligue 1 table, but still in with a chance of a European Cup place, Olympique Lyon acquired Dejan Lovren (Zenit – €2 million), Amin Sarr (Heerenveen – €11 million) and Jeffinho (Botafogo – €10 million) in winter.

After the departure of coach Lucien Favre earlier this year, Nice are going through a great period under the interim Didier Digard. Nice strengthened in January with Youssouf Nyange Ndayishimiye, 24 (İstanbul Bașakșehir – €11.5 million) and Terem Moffi, 23 (Lorient – loan until the summer, but with an obligation to buy for €30 million).
